Often, babies are positioned breech, or head up, and do not turn into the normal delivery position. Doctors and Midwives may show some concern over a breech position baby in the third trimester, as a breech baby can cause problems with a natural delivery. Medically, there are few options. The first attempt is external manual turning of the baby. This can be very painful and traumatic to the mom and baby. Many Obstetricians will not deliver a breech baby naturally, so a C-section is often scheduled, if the baby has not turned late in the pregnancy. C-sections can also be very traumatic to babies and moms.

Chiropractic may be a good alternative option for the re-positioning of the baby into the head-down position. Regular, Chiropractic adjustments are helpful in easing many pregnancy symptoms. However, many people are not aware of a technique called the "Webster Breech Technique". It involves an adjustment of the low back area and some light soft tissue work in the lower abdomen region. Chiropractic is very safe for pregnant women, and this technique should be done every other day for approximately two weeks.

If the baby still does not turn and more invasive techniques are used or the baby is born by a C-section birth, it is recommended that the mom and baby are checked out right away by their Chiropractor to ensure their spines were not affected.

This Webster Breech technique can be applied to expecting women even if their baby is not in the breech position. Many women have reported that Chiropractic helps relieve many symptoms which occur throughout their pregnancy and during labor.

When choosing a Chiropractor for your family, ask them if they adjust kids and can do the Webster Breech technique!

Our second baby was in the breech position at 30 weeks. After I did this technique on my wife for about 2 weeks, the baby turned. Many Chiropractors have had tremendous success with this technique. There are many gentle and safe options available for the turning of breech babies and I would recommend trying them before using the more invasive techniques.
